Aviation & Transportation Security Solutions
Choose a best-in-class airport access control system that meets critical regulatory requirements and helps ensure the security of travelers
Aviation and Transportation facilities – from Class I airports to smaller regional and private airports – are faced with an array of distinct security challenges and regulatory requirements. They must provide the traveling public with a safe and secure experience while ensuring a welcoming, comfortable environment that can accommodate the movement of large numbers of people.
LenelS2 solutions provide airport security while meeting the necessary aviation compliance mandates. Our airport access control systems feature over 200 integrations through the OpenAccess Alliance Program (OAAP) and an open API. This ensures any building area, such as a security identification display area (SIDA) or system, like a criminal history record check (CHRC), can be centrally managed. Our video management systems and video surveillance systems help provide building-wide surveillance to enhance situational awareness.

Our solutions work in sync with your organization’s resources to ensure a robust, user-friendly and customizable visitor management portfolio. Our video management systems (VMS) help improve the airport visitor experience, streamline operations, and increase security. In addition, LenelS2 solutions offer a comprehensive overview of video surveillance data to help store and manage video footage for evidence in the case of forensic investigations.
Video Surveillance and Management
LenelS2 solutions unify video surveillance and management to provide enhanced situational awareness in your airport's buildings. With LenelS2's video surveillance and management solutions for airports, you can monitor passenger activity, identify and deter suspicious activity, manage flow, improve operational efficiency, and more. We empower your transportation organization to stay on top of the latest events and provide quick responses, allowing for live and recorded video to be accessed from an app or web browser anywhere at any time.
Mobile Credentials
Lost keycards and badges can pose an increased security risk. If an employee drops their badge or loses it, unauthorized personnel can gain access to disclosed areas. Mobile credential solutions add an additional layer of security with pin codes, fingerprints, or face IDs to unlock the phone in order for the mobile credential to be user. Mobile credentials can be used in airports to verify a passenger's identity, for example.

Frequently Asked Questions About Aviation & Transportation Security
Security-restricted areas are places that are restricted for the public to access and are secured by aviation access control practices such as biometric scanning or video surveillance.
Aviation security makes use of screening equipment such as metal detectors and x-ray machines to scan visitors. To secure areas of the building, airports make use of systems such as video surveillance, credentialing, biometric scanning, and other access control systems.
The primary purpose of aviation security is to ensure that travelers are kept safe and that only authorized personnel have access to sensitive data or areas.
Transportation security works to implement access control practices in transportation systems such as rail, transit, highway, and aviation systems.
Aviation security allows for the safe and efficient movement of people. Without transportation security, there runs the risk of unlawful entry into private spaces or terror attacks.
Key areas that need to be monitored include:
- Baggage claim areas
- Control and data centers
- Tarmac access
- Boarding areas
- Deplaning areas
- Aircraft hangers
- Control towers
The duties of transportation security include:
- Screening travelers
- Maintaining efficient traveler traffic flow through security checkpoints
- Monitoring surveillance video
- Controlling entry and exit points
- Operating equipment to identify potentially dangerous objects
Threats to aviation security include:
- Sensitive information leakage
- Terror attacks
- Smuggling
- Human trafficking
