Building Security Through Collaboration
The implementation phase brought the plan to life. Honeywell's distributed control system helped manage Motor Oil's complex applications across the enterprise. The teams deployed network segmentation. They installed Honeywell cybersecurity products and implemented managed security services.
New security controls changed daily operations. Manager-based support within applications, secure mutual authentication and USB-based updates through approved media helped create control mechanisms for the refinery.
The results shifted how the teams worked. Engineers could receive updates remotely, maintaining efficiency. USB ports in the DCS system became usable through secure processes. Motor Oil moved from forced delays to more streamlined operations.
"We started to come together as one, built trust and created a safer business and industrial environment," said Christos Syngelakis, Group Chief Information Security Officer at Motor Oil.
