Honeywell IAQ sensors connect to building management systems through open protocols including Modbus, BACnet and Sylk. This system-agnostic approach enables integration with Honeywell controllers and third-party BMS platforms.

Sensors expose data points for CO₂, particulate matter, TVOC, temperature and humidity that controllers can use in HVAC control strategies such as demand-controlled ventilation, filtration optimization and economizer logic.

Remote Building Manager and other cloud-based platforms can aggregate IAQ data from multiple sensors across facilities to provide portfolio-wide visibility, configurable automated alerting and trend analysis.

ASHRAE 62.1 identifies contaminants of concern beyond CO₂ alone, including volatile organic compounds like formaldehyde, benzene and toluene, plus particulate matter (PM2.5), carbon monoxide, ozone and ammonia.

The TR50 multi-parameter sensor addresses this by monitoring CO₂ for occupancy-based ventilation, PM2.5 for particulate contamination, TVOC for off-gassing from materials and furnishings, plus temperature and humidity for thermal comfort and moisture control. Humidity in the 40-60 percent range helps reduce airborne virus transmission. 

Monitoring multiple parameters provides a more complete picture of indoor environmental quality than relying on CO₂ concentration as a proxy.
